Lee Cody - Lee is a island explorer/lover, traveller, primary school educator, yoga teacher, salt water woman who is passionate about taking up our responsibilities toward the earth and her oceans. I have been collecting, recycling and repurposing marine litter for many years, while living in Tasmania, on mainland Australia and South East Asia. I'm always keen to participate in local actions to leave our coastlines in better shape than we find them. I am fortunate enough in my work place to have a crew of willing and able friends, colleagues and students who energetically join me in our Cottage School clean ups of local river ways, creeks, beaches and coastlines. The young people in my care will inherit the earth we leave them and I want to know I've done what I can to not squander that inheritance.
Ruth Haley - I love the outdoors, and have a keen eye for spotting bits of plastic in the sand!! and am very passionate about keeping this incredible place we live in clean and free of garbage :)
Kianna Gallagher - I’m pursuing my Ph.D. at the University of Tasmania, focused on human relationships with the marine environment. I’m interested in how people interact positively with the oceans, how this has changed over time, and how these relationships may evolve as our oceans continue to change. I’m an avid diver and nature lover and am always keen to get outside to give back to the environment.
Alice Beavan - Alice is a musician (singer and ukulele player) and also an Early Years Educator, Currently working at a day care centre in Sandy Bay with children ages 0-5. I love the outdoors, reading, journalling, dancing and singing. I love Tasmania for its changing seasons from the sunny days on the beach to the cold evenings by the fire. I'm in awe of the wildness of this beautiful state and am keen be a part of protecting and preserving the beautiful wild beaches and waterways of our island home.
Clare Jacobsen - I have had a strong passion for sustainability, wild places and connectedness to country for as long as I can remember. I have mostly jumped around between ecological science degrees, outdoor tour guiding, and discovery rangering for Parks and Wildlife Tasmania in recent years! I strongly believe in the power of community and grassroots action to care for country and protect our wild places, and I’m extremely excited and grateful to experience that power of community in this amazing beach cleanup to care for this incredible island, lutruwita/Tasmania.
Jimmy Westley - Having grown up in a large family of 8 in the bush, I have a love for the outdoors and a longing for wide open spaces. I've spent much of the past 5 years in Tasmania but originally hail from Victoria. I have a passion and curiosity for the natural environment and an unrequited love for the ocean. I'm passionate about protecting our environment and I'm very excited to be part of the clean-up gang and to see the south-west from another angle.
Dan Haley - Passionate about wild places and caring for them. Dan shares his time between the mountains, where he takes school kids on adventures for work, and the sea where he embraces his inner marine mammal and spends as much time beneath the waves as he can.
Stuart Williams - I'm a designer maker of furniture, lighting and sculpture. My interest lies in how we interact with the natural environment, how a made object can impart the life of the maker and tell the story of place.
Katrina Blake - First time Cleanuper and very excited to join the team. Works in outdoors and conservation. Great lover of the ocean and coast, mountains and rivers. LIves on mainland but has spent a lot of time in Tassie for both work and recreation.
